Publish on Cash Matters

Do you have a story that moves cash forward?

Cash Matters publishes writing that treats cash as what it is: infrastructure, a public good, and a question of access and power.

We're looking for sharp, well-argued contributions, reporting and analysis on payments, access, and financial inclusion with a global public audience.

What we publish

Reader-first analysis

We're interested in pieces that connect cash to real-world consequences. Strong submissions usually answer at least one of these questions:

  • Who is affected when cash access disappears — and how?
  • What happens when payment systems fail, exclude, or surveil?
  • How do laws, central banks, or platforms shape everyday payment choices?

Cash Matters serves a global readership of policymakers, researchers, journalists, advocates, and citizens. Every piece should earn the time they spend reading it.

What to pitch

We welcome:

  • Reported explainers and analysis
  • Data driven stories and analysis
  • Commentary pieces anchored in evidence
  • Policy-focused writing with public relevance
  • Lived or community-based perspectives on cash access
  • Cross-border or comparative insights

We value clarity over jargon, and substance.

Practicalities

Keep it simple:

  • Original, unpublished work
  • 400–700 words strictly
  • Sources clearly cited
  • Short author bio (50–80 words) and a high resolution headshot

How to submit

Send a short email with a pitch outlining:

  • Your central argument
  • Why it matters now
  • Who it's for, beyond your own context

We aim to respond thoughtfully, even when we can't publish.
